Summer Reading 2026
School is officially out for the summer, which means I am about to have a whole lot of unstructured time on my hands!
I recently discovered the National Book Foundation's magical adult reading challenge, the Summer Reading Adventure.
Challenges & TBR
Listen to an audiobook
I'm currently listening to Nona the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir.Read outdoors
Easy! I'll pick a sunny day (like today) and read on the balcony.Re-read an all-time favorite
Harder. I'm trying to decide between Tress and the Emerald Sea by Brandon Sanderson and The Book Theif by Markus Zusak.Watch a book-to-screen adaptation
The Vampire Lestat is currently coming out and definitely on my "to watch" list!Enjoy an author event- in person or online
There's lots of indie bookstores near me. I will definitely keep an eye on their social medias this summer.Borrow a book from a Little Free Library or a friend
My school is doing a teacher-only reading program this year, so I borrowed With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Avevedo.Travel with your next read
I'm going to Scotland and Iceland this summer, so it definitely won't be hard to do this one!Find a National Book Award-honored title in the wild I don't think I can plan ahead for this. I DO think it means I have to go to a lot of bookstores this summer.
Read a new-to-you genre
I read a lot of different books, so it's going to be a bit hard to find a genre that's new to me. I think I'll have to go niche with this one.Book club your next read
This one I'll decide with my bookish friends!Attend or host your own reading party
I will definitely be hosting a reading party!
I'll update my progress as I go this summer. Happy reading!
